UPDATE: My suspicion that something in the background was eating such huge amount of resources both in terms of processing power and software power is corrrect! I was right! a random person on the internet tipped me with the huge problem caused by Windows Vista and 7. Try it and see if it also does the same thing for you. Strangely disabling Steam Overlay and Steam cloud has fixed this issue for me. If your sound is "choppy" or "laggy" it means your processor is working very hard on this game and might be hitting its limit. Now right click on the USER CONFIG and press properties and set it to "READ ONLY" this is important to prevent the game from reverting your settings Ph_advanced_physX put 0 to disable physx.Īfter you have done your tweaks save the config file by pressing control+s or file> then save. Weird the game sets it to 10 - 15 for me which explained my horrible FPS O.0 R_enum_ssaa I actually gained more FPS by setting this value to 0. The higher the value the more drawing power of your computer is needed. R_base_fov this setting adjusts your field of view or the amount of things you can see in your screen. Disable this if you want more frames there is very minimal graphical difference with high resolutions If you have this off or set to 0 I believe the game uses FXAA instead of this. What antialiasing does is make jaggies more straight and the textures more clear. This is an antialiasing command line where you are able to adjust it. What Tessellation does is make things round more even circular and things pop out even more by adding more triangles and polygons into the model which = to more GPU stress and processing power needed. R_tess_ss this enables the adjustment for direct x 11 Tessellation. In my case I set it to 0 in order to gain more fps. R_blur_level this one sets the amount of screen blur for the game. r_api 0 is DX9 r_api 1 is dx10 and r_api 2 is dx11 Some claims that running it on 9 will give a performance boost but actually I got less performance with nine and went back to 11. R_api this will toggle if you want to run the game via Direct X9, 10 or 11. Now after you have saved your settings in-game go back to the config files and press "contrl+f" to bring up the find button and look for these command lines: THIS TWEAK WILL LOCK YOUR SETTINGS because Metro has a tendency to revert the settings back to default for unkown reasons. NOTE: Before tweaking the config files I suggest you run the game and set the "settings" which you are convinient with whether it is low, normal, high or very high or ultra. Double click on it and if prompted which program to open with use Note pad. Then enter 4a games folder > Metro LL > user To access it simply press the windows button and type in the "search for program files" box in Windows 7 "%LOCALAPPDATA%" without the collons. The config files of Metro is located in your local data. The next step is to tweak the config files.
